From 1939 to 1943, a total of 3,164 units of the Class 50 freight train standard locomotive were manufactured in 21 different locomotive factories. The machines reached a top speed of 80 km/h, produced around 1,200 kW and had an axle load of 15 t. After the Second World War, 18 machines were in Austria. Twelve locomotives were included in the new ÖBB designation scheme in 1953. Some were in use until 1972.
