The locomotives of the 109 series represented the end and highlight of the 2C machines in Austria. With them, the travel time between Vienna and Trieste was reduced from 13.5 to 10.5 hours. In 1913, the Budapest machine factory built eleven locomotives for use on routes in the Hungarian half of the empire. The locomotive, later known in Hungary as the 302 series, differs from the
original 109 series, primarily in the square cladding of the inlet pipes and the typical Hungarian lamps. The air pump is also located
somewhere else; namely on the left rear of the boiler.
The steam locomotive with the number 109.107 was built in Budapest in 1915 based on Austrian plans. In 1932, the Danube-Sava-Adriatic Railway Company (formerly the Southern Railway Company) was nationalized. Its vehicles were transferred to the MÁV. From 1932, this locomotive was in use as MÁV 302.608. The model shows the appearance of the locomotive in its final years.
