Information about the prototype
Celebrate 100 years of the Class 01 express train locomotive with us! For this special occasion, we are presenting a prototypical train combination of the legendary E 230, which transported passengers from Dortmund to Cologne in the second half of the 1950s. The E 230 was a typical representative of the post-war express trains and consisted of a combination of six old express train carriages and modern city express carriages (yl carriages). All of the carriages came from the Dortmund main station and reflected the diversity of the railway company at the time. The train locomotive, on the other hand, came from the Cologne depot. The Class 01 or 03 was often used here - including the famous 01 100, which was faithfully reproduced in our model. With its powerful design and striking appearance, the BR 01 shaped the image of express train traffic at that time. On its northern route, the E 230 express train took passengers through the Ruhr region: Dortmund main station – Rauxel – Herne – Wanne-Eickel – Gelsenkirchen – Essen-Altenessen – Oberhausen – Duisburg – Düsseldorf. In the late afternoon, the train finally reached its destination: Cologne main station.
