Operating No. 01 133
BD Münster, Bw Rheine
The locomotives from the Bw Rheine regularly provided train services to the nearby border station of Oldenzaal in the Netherlands. In order to be able to turn the locomotives there on the 20-meter turntable,
several 01 and 01 NBK locomotives in Rheine were equipped with a 2'2T30 tender of the latest design.
Boiler, driver's cab and tender made from finely detailed plastic components
Openwork bar frame and spoked wheels made from die-cast zinc
Sound decoder installed
Driver's cab illuminated
Lighting appropriate to the era
Standard shaft at the rear with guide rails
Close coupling between locomotive and tender
True-to-original reproduction of the rear wall of the boiler
Individually attached steps and ladders
Drive in the tender for optimal driving characteristics
Single axle bearings in metal
Scale wheelbase
Filigree driving and coupling rods made from metal
Fire flickering (Digital EXTRA version)
Engine lighting (Digital EXTRA version)
Note on the minimum radius of the BR 01: The models of the BR 01 steam locomotive are technically suitable for operation from a minimum radius of R 360 mm. For optimal driving characteristics, we recommend using from R 420 mm.
Information about the prototype
Before the BR 01 series gained its reputation as "the" German express train locomotive, the companies Borsig (01 001-008) and AEG (01 009-010) delivered a total of ten pre-series locomotives to the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft (DRG). The first was the 01 008, which still exists today and was handed over to the DRG on January 10, 1926. However, the locomotives were still ahead of their time at the time, as many routes and railway depots were not yet prepared for an axle load of 20t. As a result, the routes used in the first few years of operation were still very limited. This meant that testing of the new locomotives took longer. The most noticeable difference to the later series locomotives was that the first ten 01s had a noticeably longer driver's cab. There were also differences in the structural design of the frame and many other details.
