Otto O. Kurbjuweit is not a theorist! Since his training as a train driver at the steam train Mühlenstroth, he knows how the hare, and the railway operations run: Each train movement has its destination and its tasks, no train just circles so around in the area. This should already be taken into account when planning your model railway layout.
Because here, too, it does not depend on a particularly large number of driving options, but on sensible operation based on the realistic tasks of freight and passenger traffic oriented. And so presents "OOK", as he abbreviates memorable, model railroad designs of particular sophistication. In particular, the derivations - from the first simple draft to the most elaborate appendix - are discussed in an instructive manner. A language, by the way, which always gives the reader great pleasure with rare humor and with looseness, even with longer passages of text.
At the beginning of every construction project, there are nothing but questions. Why do we want to build a plant? What makes a good investment? And what do we do with it? Or even: Can a model railway system be art? Otto O. Kurbjuweit not only answers these and many other questions about the fundamentals of planning and system design from his decades of experience, but also offers numerous concrete model railroad designs and practical examples - of course always on the premise that operation takes place on the plant under construction. which comes close to that of the model. If you want to find out how to turn a banal track oval into an operating system and why "Prototype freelancing" raises the model railway hobby to art, you can not ignore the MIBA planning aid.
