From 1970, modern railroad company cars were needed at the DB. In the absence of suitable personal donor cars previously used, a large number of Gbs 245 freight car chassis were used. In the end, however, a small series of 58 cars was converted.
An office car of type 412, 17 type 433 sleeping cars, 14 type 434 car beds, 22 type 440 car tool trolleys and one commuter car (type 450) and a kitchen car were built (among others in the DB repair shop in Offenburg) (Type 505), a kitchen sidecar (type 519) and a lounge changing car (type 583).
Most of the cars are still in service today, in some cases also with private companies.
