For decades this was not a slogan, but a matter of course. And the railway administrations and large private companies came up with special freight wagons for the individual goods being transported. It wasn't just in Bavaria that there were numerous special designs at the end of the 19th century - for example for milk, for beer, but also for faeces, for gas water, tar or for spirit, as ethanol or alcohol was commonly referred to at the time. For the last-mentioned dangerous goods, the Royal Bavarian State Railways had 45 special cars built by 1912, which were equipped with a flat basin boiler. The cars had two platforms. On one side there was a pump house with the emptying nozzles and a hand pump so that the respective load could be picked up in train stations without special infrastructure. On the other hand, the braked cars were equipped with either a hand spindle handbrake or a Bavarian-style brakeman's cab. The vehicles were used as rented cars or purely private cars. However, their use was by no means limited to Bavaria; they also ran in “cross-border” traffic with other state railways and also to neighboring countries. By the way, they were very robust wagons and some even survived the Second World War.
