BR Mk1 Brake Composite Corridor
These cars were built from 1951 to 1963, during which time the only major change was the replacement of the bogies in the final stages of the Mark 1 build cycle. The Mark 1 car, as it later came to be known, was designed as a "jack of all trades", incorporating the best qualities of the four big cars the company had inherited.
These coaches were in service in one form or another in the UK until 2010 when the Mark One based Class 421 was phased out on the Lymington Branch Line.
