With the success of the iron design for express train cars, the Prussian State Railway also purchased four-axle baggage cars in this design. The main dimensions of the previous wooden construction cars were retained, but the construction was changed to iron profiles. A key feature was that the doors at the ends of the cars were no longer in niches, but directly at the end of the car. Other differences were the rivets on the side walls and the elimination of the truss. In this design, cars for express trains with bellows as well as for express trains without transitions were built well into the 1920s. The baggage cars dominated the image of express trains until the 1950s; many cars later went to the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) and Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR).
