MAN 7t. Eq. rocket launcher "LARS"
Between 1977 and 1985, MAN manufactured a total of 3,500 7-ton MAN KAT 1 trucks for the German armed forces. Compared to the 2-axle 5-tonner, the 3-axle 7-tonner has a more powerful, air-cooled 320 hp Deutz engine with exhaust gas turbocharger and intercooler.
The superstructure corresponds to that of the 5-tonner. These trucks were used as flatbed vehicles, equipment carriers for reconnaissance drones, carrier vehicles for the LARS light artillery rocket system, container transport vehicles and also as three-way tipper trucks.
