Developed and produced by the German/French consortium TRANSporter ALLianz, exactly 214 examples of the Transall C-160 were delivered to the air forces of France, Turkey and Germany between 1965 and 1985. The Transall designed as a tactical transport aircraft
has been replaced by the Airbus A400M since 2013. The type designation C-160 was made up of the purpose - C for cargo - and the wing area of the Transall of 160 m².
