The J-5001 is the first F/A-18 C registered in Switzerland in the history of our Air Force. In a way, it is also regarded as the primus inter pares. No other Hornet can look back on such a number of AMRAAM radar-guided air-to-air missiles fired. The same applies to the 9X Sidewinders attached to the wingtips. Only the J-5001 also has measuring devices for Armasuisse, which evaluates the sharp operations.
All of these components are used on so-called life-firings. The logo from 2019 under the cockpit also bears witness to one of these missions. Similar to the warbirds of the past era, the J-5001 also has the symbols of the downed drones and guided missiles. This "nose art" is traditionally located on the left side under the cockpit window and is accurately represented on our model.
