This series went into operation as the V 65 in 1955/56 for light line service and shunting. Only 15 examples of the later series 265 were built by MaK in Kiel, and they were all taken out of service by 1980.

Accompany us in historical scenes through the history of the V 65 and the preserved museum locomotives. The V 65 belongs to the four-axle MaK rod locomotive range from 575 to 1200 HP, which produced a total of 268 locomotives. Many of these were exported abroad, others were put into service by German private railways. Some are still in active operation or run on museum railways. Together with the DB V 65, a successful portrait of the four-axle MaK rod diesel locomotives has been created.
