Old Masters of Railway Photography: Günther Scheingraber
The life's work of a Munich railway enthusiast
144 pages with 185 b/w illustrations
260 x 215 mm
This new book in our series “Old Masters of Railway Photography” is dedicated to the life's work of Dr. Günther Scheingraber. With his extensive photographic work, which spans several decades, he belongs in the first rank of well-known German photographers. The photographer and author's hobby was not exclusively focused on locomotives, railcars and trains from state and private railways. He was just as meticulous about photographing railway carriages and documenting railway facilities, particularly those in the Bavarian capital. His first photographs were taken around 1940.
Over time, the exchange of images and information led to long-term friendly contacts with many well-known railway enthusiasts, such as: B. Carl Bellingrodt, Karl-Ernst Maedel, Joachim Deppmeyer. For the book, with which the Eisenbahn-Kurier honors the life's work of Dr. Günther Scheingraber, around 180 black-and-white photographs were selected from his extensive archive.
