Description & specifications

Tank wagon, H0, Deutz, ESSO, silver, DRG Ep II, DC
Even before the beginning of the Second World War, the rulers recognized a considerable need for tank wagons for flammable liquids in order to secure supplies. The prerequisite for the development was the economical use of raw materials. Westwaggon in Cologne-Deutz developed under this condition, a type without a separate base, in which the head pieces were welded to the boiler. \u003c/\u003e
To avoid damage to the boiler by the tensile and impact forces occurring during operation, the Lower part of the boiler designed as a tub, so no longer has, as usual, vertical boiler shots on. From after the company headquarters of the developer called Deutzer design two-axle developed between 1941 and 1944 about 2000 copies. While the vehicles of the first series were delivered to private owners, military authorities, such as the Luftwaffe received the lion's share of other supplies. Oil clubs were clearly in the minority as recipients. Listed were the cars all in the meantime only as German Reichsbahn firmierenden state railway. After the Second World War, the private cars remained with the successor companies of the oil clubs, the state cars were transferred in 1951 in the founded on November 5, 1951 United tank farm and transport GmbH VTG. VTG owned a total of 9791 tank cars of various types in 1953. For example, in 1961, a larger number of wagons were transferred to the industrial management company IVG to supply military locations with operating materials. These cars were to be seen individually or in small groups in the whole Federal Republic far into epoch IV. Private operators such as Shell, ESSO, ARAL and Texaco also used the Deutz cars up to epoch IV. By 1990, the last specimens left the stock.
