Information about the prototype
Beer, a brewery product, was among the first goods transported on our railways. Breweries ordered their own insulated wagons for this purpose, which they then leased from the railway companies for operational use. Due to the mostly small production batches, the wagons were rarely truly identical, but their main dimensions were based on the standard freight wagons built concurrently by the state and regional railways. Therefore, it is not surprising that wagon designs for transporting beer were also developed based on the A2 standard. The prototype for the new BRAWA model this time features a vertically mounted cladding made of planks, beneath which the supporting box frame disappears, thus widening the wagon body. These beer wagons, in this and slightly modified versions, were in use by many breweries between 1910 and 1970.
