Based on the French BB 7200 electric locomotive, the NS received the four-axle electric locomotives of the 1600 series. When they were introduced in 1981, they were the most powerful locomotives in the NS fleet. With an operating weight of 83 t, they produced 4,540 kW and reached a top speed of 140 km/h.
The logistics service provider Raillogix also operates locomotives from the former fleet of the Dutch State Railways. The company organizes rail transport for various goods such as containers, metals, bulk goods and consumer goods.
