The BB 15000 is a French electric locomotive series designed for use on the 25 kV 50 Hz AC electrified network. The design of the locomotives with the so-called "nez cassé" (broken nose) was the work of Frenchman Paul Arzens, who was responsible for the design of several SNCF locomotives at the time. Alstom built a total of 65 locomotives between 1971 and 1976. These locomotives were the first French mainline locomotives with two driver's cabs and a single pantograph, and were the last electric locomotives of the SNCF to be designed exclusively for AC power.
