The foundation stone for this railway connection between Hungary and Austria was laid 150 years ago. On October 15, 1872, Emperor Franz Joseph I granted the concession for the construction of a railway line from Raab (Győr) via Ödenburg (Sopron) to Ebenfurth in Lower Austria. The line between Raab and Ödenburg was opened in 1876, followed in 1879 by the remaining section to Ebenfurth. The entire route has been electrified since 1988.
The Raab-Oedenburg-Ebenfurter Eisenbahn AG, today known as the Raaberbahn (in Hungary GySEV), connects the two countries of Austria and Hungary and still acts as an important link in public transport. For the anniversary, the 470 504 received a striking advertising design in May 2022.
