The E.645 and E.646 locomotives were railway vehicles whose construction was commissioned by Ferrovie dello Stato at the end of the 1950s, active until 2009, when they were retired. The E.646 were made following the post-war reconstruction, also and above all to cope with the economic boom that overwhelmed Italy in those years. New requirements of scope and mobility were the main reasons that led Ferrovie dello Stato to design and implement these vehicles.
