In the course of the presentation of the new Nightjet generation, 1216 012 was redesigned as an advertising medium for ÖBB’s successful night train division. The new Nightjet push-pull trains will in future be pulled by class 1216 Taurus locomotives. 1216 012 is one of the locomotives registered for Italy and often pulls the so-called Brenner ECs from Munich via Innsbruck to Venice.
