Prototype: The “blue F-Zug network” of Era III has long been a legend: as early as 1951, the Bundesbahn offered fast long-distance trains. The steel blue painted cars also impressed with the multi-colored printing on the side members. The raised silver DB letters were decorated in the middle of the car. All “blue” trains - with the exception of two connections with foreign connections - carried only 2nd class. The 2nd class of the three-class system that was in force up to now corresponded to the first class that is still in force today until the class reform in summer 1956, when the old plush class was no longer available. A metal sign covered class number 1, which was not always implemented consistently, as several prototype photos show.
