■ Gas turbine variant of our popular TEE/Intercity multiple unit
■ For the first time with PluX22 interface and LED headlight
In 1971, the lack of power of the diesel-powered VT 11.5 (BR 601) led to the conversion of four power cars to gas turbine drives, the most striking feature of which were the large air inlets in front of the driver's cab, which supplied the turbine with air.
Due to defects, the operation of these trains became increasingly uneconomical, which is why the multiple units running under the designation BR 602 were retired by the DB in 1978 and 1979. Only the power car 602 003 has been preserved for museum purposes; it can be found today in the DB Museum in Nuremberg.
