Description & specifications

Electric multiple unit plan V of the Dutch State Railways.

■ For the first time with PluX22 interface in green paint
■ Filigree prototypical pantographs
■ Model in a finely detailed design with many separately attached plug-in parts

The two-car Dutch electric multiple unit Plan V - better known in the Netherlands as Mat '64 or by its nickname Apekop (monkey's head) - became one of the standard commuter trains of the Dutch State Railways from the mid-1960s. With a total of 246 units, it was the most frequently built multiple unit of the NS at the time.
Plan V1 and V2 were delivered in a green livery with sand-yellow stripes. The Plan V of the 3rd series were already painted in yellow at the factory in 1968. The multiple units that had been delivered earlier were then also repainted yellow between 1969 and 1973. Before they were decommissioned, the multiple units were used on almost all electrified railway lines in the Netherlands.
