The diesel locomotive 749 257 was rebuilt from the original series T 478.2 (from 1988: 752). It comes from the delivery series of 82 machines without train heating system for freight train operation. In the 1990s, the locomotive was retrofitted with an electric heater and renamed the 749 series. The decisive factor for this was the more economical use of the Bardotkas in front of short trains. The locomotive also got the pleasing Šumperk color scheme, which was applied to several locomotives in different color combinations. They were used for both passenger and freight trains in the Czech Republic.
