The 1970s and 1980s are a colorful era: at the Deutsche Bundesbahn and of course also on the Minitrix model railway. Back then, new colors and unusual designs were intended to bring a breath of fresh air to the rails - and not just in long-distance transport. In the south, the “Allgäu-Zellern-Bahn” wrote railway and transport history, which can now be revived with new Minitrix models on the home layout or in the display case. Around 1976, the DB wanted to shut down the Württemberg Allgäu railway Aulendorf - Kißlegg and the Zollernbahn Tübingen - Sigmaringen (- Aulendorf) was also under scrutiny. The two regions quickly recognized the value of their railway and, in cooperation with the DB, came up with a concept to make the routes more attractive. In the absence of new vehicles, tried-and-tested but relatively old converted passenger cars (type yg) were given green stripes, a large lettering “Allgäu- Zollern-Bahn” and coats of arms of communities and cities on the two routes. These trains were predominantly hauled by the diesel locomotives of the series. Although there was no major increase in comfort, the connection became known to the population again and closure was averted.
