Flatbed truck (MB NG) "Spedition Schmidt", 1973-80
- The little brother of the new generation of Mercedes-Benz
And now the little brother:
The MB NG was once driven by the Gevelsberger Spedition Schmidt and was considered a guarantor for the regular delivery of bulky goods. WIKING has miniaturized the forward control vehicle of the 1970s and thus provided the well-known long-distance vehicle combination with another short-distance counterpart. It is one of the largest traditional companies in the logistics industry: Ernst Schmidt founded the forwarding company of the same name in Gevelsberg in 1893. The first branches were opened in Hamburg in 1953, then in Bremen in 1954.
The first export groupages to Europe and the Middle East
took place in the mid-sixties. The fleet – including the Büssing BS
16 and the MAN chubby cheeks – already comprised around in the 1980s
70 vehicles.
