Unimog U 406 "Gasolin", 1963-75
• The gasoline Unimog brought heating oil and diesel everywhere
Regional tank farms were once part of everyday life far from the Hanover gasoline headquarters. There, the supply of the customers was ensured - even with the Unimog 406 with add-on tank when it was in rough terrain. Today the fuel brand is a classic, albeit without any everyday presence. Who would have thought that this “Gasolin” logo was once emblazoned at 3,500 filling stations in western Germany! In view of the dense network of petrol pumps at the time, tank trucks with different transport volumes were the order of the day. The fact that the red and white brand colors of "Gasolin" later fell victim to the market concentration in the mineral oil industry and were then reflagged by Aral makes the history of the petrol station history, which WIKING devotes itself to time and again, all the more remarkable.
Cab with chassis as well as cardan shaft, platform and rims carmine red. Platform insert silver gray, interior fittings with steering wheel anthracite gray. Tank top white, tank bottom carmine red. Silver-plated radiator grille with Mercedes-Benz star and trim strips. Unimog lettering printed in silver on the bonnet. Cab doors with Gasolin logo in carmine red-black. On the rear, also the Gasolin logo in carmine-red-black.
