• When the Mercedes-Benz LP 321 disengaged with a turntable ladder
The fire brigades in the first two post-war decades did not have it with front-wheel drivers, the Haubers were valued. The Mercedes Benz Pullman chassis remained exceptional in the fire stations and was only occasionally put into regular service. Accordingly, the example of the WIKING model with a turntable ladder structure at the Mannheim location is quite a rarity. It was not until the 1970s that the tide slowly turned, because after the Pullman series and the cubic series, it was only the next generation that succeeded in gaining a foothold there, in order to finally end the Hauber era with the fire services.
