VW Buggy - copper metallic, built 1964-75
• The buggy brought the spirit of the times to the WIKING range
It was WIKING boss Fritz Peltzer himself who found something in a car magazine again - it was the popular time of buggies. And one of them was to be added to the range in 1978. The decision was made to go with the Apal Jet, which attracted attention above all due to the unusual wedge-shaped shape of the plastic tub. In the original, it harmonized with the snappy handling of the Apal, as it sprinted from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds. The Apal was of course powered by a 1,750 cc four-cylinder boxer engine with 85 hp. The empty weight was only 630 kilograms, making it 300 kilograms lighter than a standard Beetle. This meant that the Apal reached a top speed of around 150 km/h.
Copper metallic body with clear coat finish, chassis with bumpers and interior with steering wheel in black. Window frame printed in black, front indicators in orange.
