Double decker bus D2U (Büssing)
No doubt, the Bluna bus made you thirsty for soda! The Büssing D2U once caused an eye-catcher in its West Berlin area of operation. Unlike today, full-area bus designs were by no means a matter of course and also rather the exception at the BVG. The mighty Bluna letters in glowing flower power orange were embedded in a creative palm tree that heralded the exotic origin of the fruit. The double-decker buses probably drove past WIKING's former Berlin model making workshops in Lichterfelde dozens of times a day - the D2U shaped the economic boom in western Berlin. Accordingly, the Bluna bus also carries the destination sign from Steglitz. The characteristic double-decker buses with the filigree Büssing spider on the front still stand for the years of Berlin change, which the west of the divided city also experienced and which is reflected in the advertising of the omnipresent buses.
Body beige, interior moss green, steering wheel black-gray. Rims fawn brown. Black chassis. Hand-painted headlights, bumper and Büssing spider printed in chrome silver. Bus driver basalt gray with hand-colored face. Destination sign "Steglitz" with the line number "86". Lateral printing of the black bumper strips and fender borders as well as the BVG logo. Elaborate Bluna advertising with palm trees overflowing the body. Taillights red.
