• The tram bus in the popular city traffic colors, 1949-59
The finishing makes it possible - the already legendary Büssing tram bus shines for the first time in a bicolor design. And WIKING has chosen the then
contemporarily popular appearance in sky blue/light ivory, used by many city transport companies. At one time, WIKING fans only knew the
Büssing tram bus with a fully glazed upper section. When it went on sale in 1951, the Büssing tram bus was a bestseller. This was mainly
because WIKING boss Friedrich Peltzer gave the miniature bus a feature that was outstanding in the transport model range:
The transparent roof section attractively simulated the glazing that was otherwise missing in models - the viewer had a clear
view of the interior. The original Büssing tram bus had already been presented at the Hanover Trade Fair in 1949. Particularly striking: It had an underfloor diesel engine, which is also visible on the WIKING model along with the chassis on the underside of the bus body. No wonder that Büssing was already using the WIKING model as a promotional gift in the early 1950s, given so much attention to detail.
