Model Federal Railway – classic model railway.
Text German
With dimensions of 23.5 x 29.7 cm, it is visually based on the books previously published by the Modellbundesbahn, such as the Altenbeken trilogy - Classics of the Railway.
In addition to the history of the model federal railway, which began in 2001, the “typical Weserbergland” parts of the system, Bad Driburg, Ottbergen, Weserstein and the Teutoburg Forest are presented in detail.
Almost all of the 465 photos were only taken in 2023 and show the current status, because in addition to the new part of the Teutoburg Forest, which reflects the most beautiful sections between Paderborn and Altenbeken, the longer existing parts of the system are regularly maintained and, for example, have been replaced compared to older photos Bushes, trees, a freshly greened Bad Driburg spa park or even new, more scaled street lamps have been visually improved.
The chapters tour through the Ottbergen railway depot and train formation on the model federal railway build a bridge from the original to the model. Several chapters provide practical model building tips; they show, among other things, how the large Altenbeken viaduct was built, how Michael Butkay restores landscapes and Jos Geurts builds trees.
The photos are mainly by Markus Tiedtke, all illustrations, as well as the folded insert in DIN A1 format in the pocket on the last page of the book, were contributed by Bernard Huguenin. The DIN A1 sheet shows the detailed track plan of the model federal railway on the front and the track layout in the shadow area on the back.
