Magirus buses for the railway and post office
112 pages with 195 illustrations
300 x 210 mm
The legendary brand with the symbol of the Ulm Minster on the front was in service with the two large state-owned road transport companies. Since 1919, Magirus has been one of the well-known bus manufacturers in Germany. Both the Reichspost and Reichsbahn, and later the Bundespost and Bundesbahn, were among the major buyers of the yellow and red intercity buses that came from the Mainz factory from 1956 and were used primarily in western and southern Germany. Several hundred of the solid, air-cooled "Deutsche Bullen" were delivered to the railway and post office until the factory closed at the end of 1982. Some private railways also preferred to use Magirus buses.
The book provides a richly illustrated overview of the types, uses and special features of these vehicles in the railway and postal services, which also includes the standard intercity bus built from 1971/72.
